The end of the week came quickly, and except for Madison who was pulling guard duty, they all slept in that morning. They needed all the rest they could get since they were going to drive all night. They had a late breakfast around noon and began checking to make sure they had everything loaded. Then Cole insisted that they clean and inspect all of their weapons. Jack and Brat performed a final inspection of the vehicles and checked all the liquids and spare tires.

They took turns napping that afternoon even though sleep eluded most of them. They were too keyed up about their new adventure, and while none would admit to it, they were worried about dangers along the way. They ate supper at twilight and had a final meeting before driving away.
